I bought this about 3 months ago to replace an older, discontinued Sanyo. I was reluctant to buy it because of previous experience with Hoover, but so far it has performed above my expectations. It does a great job on rugs and hard floors, and you can't beat the price anywhere. It remains to be seen how long the machine will hold up, but so far I am very satisfied.
Hoover is always a reliable vacuum. I purchased this for my mother and she is very happy with it.
I love this vacuum so far but it definitely needs the longer hose which I noticed is for sale separately.
This is a smart vacume--gets all the dirt and tells you when carpet is clean. I have allergies and asthsma and this is much better for me than the bagless ones. No dust escapes as I am vacuming. LOVE IT!
I got this vacuum a few months ago and wish I hadnt bought it at all.
It sucks up cat hair no problem. That's about it though.
I have hardwood floors, I have cats and dogs. The cats use clay litter and track it onto the floor sometimes.
At first I thought this was cleaning very well, then I wore shorts while standing behind the vacuum. It shoots the clay litter right out the back and hits me in the legs.
It basically just clears a section and then you have to turn around and vacuum up the stuff that it shot out the back.
I tested this with dirt (thanks dogs!) and got the same results.
I have one room with carpet and it did really well there and continues to do well.
The big problem is hardwood floors where it doesnt clean anything other than hair.
I have tried all of the rug-or-floor-levels for the brush and none of them work. I'd return it, but I stupidly waited past the 30 days.
I guess the problem with this vacuum is the rotating brush in the front. It shoots anything that the brush cant grab (dirt, litter, etc) right out the back while it picks up stuff that it CAN grab (hair... uhhh... more hair?).
Grrrr.
This is a terrible vaccuum. It does not have strong suction and won't even pick up popcorn on carpeted floors. Instead it will grind it into the carpet. When I went from one room to the next it dumped the little debris it did pick up onto my hard surface floor. I am so frustrated and wish I had kept my old vaccuum.
This lovely vacuum and all the accessories arrived as scheduled. It assembled easily with just a screwdriver. The low price had been a surprise so I was very pleased about the self-propelled feature that I don't remember being mentioned in the description. When I turned the vacuum on it nearly got away from me because I wasn't expecting this feature. The red and green (dirt/clean) lights are wonderful. It's good to know that there is one brand that has maintained the quality it is known for.
I purchased this vacuum after reading the reviews on just about every vacuum the internet offers and I settled on this one. I received it within days of ordering, attached the handle, put on the attachments, stood up and turned it on. Before I knew it I was chasing it around the living room!!! I LOVE THIS VACUUM!!! It is powerful and great looking. I chose the bagged vacuum after throwing my brand new bagless Eureka out in the front yard after about two months, which followed the Dirt Devil I had thrown in the front yard. My husband said he's not picking anymore vacuums up out of the front yard. He won't have to worry about that, this is definately a keeper.
I owned a hoover before that was over 10 years old. So, I decided to up-date my vacuum and after carefully researching what was out there I decided to purchase another Hoover. I couldn't be happier! I have a condo in the city so I didn't want some mammoth machine and most of my space is hardwood floors with area rugs and this vacuum is perfect for that. The vacuum strength is very good and the handling is perfect around corners and under furniture. The Hoover company did a great job with this vacuum.
This vacuum replaced a 23 year old Eureka upright that used F&G bags. It was well rated by Consumer Reports but I would not say I am completely happy with it. It is at least as heavy as the old vacuum and we use it on two floors. The brush is wider so does not get into spaces as narrow as the previous vacuum. The top cord retainer just does not hold the cord well so the cord comes out frequently while vacuuming, I wired it on to prevent that. It is not too noisy and it does do a good job at pickup but it always has a forward pulling motion so you feel that you are having to constantly hold it back to prevent it from running into things, it gets tiresome. If you did not hold it back it would slam into objects or other things with a good solid force and this is not a power drive model. Finally this vacuum sucks 12 amps of power, near the maximum that many of our breakers will take. I know that vacuum manufacturers have been in a power race for years but honestly this is just a marketing gimic. My old vacuum had between 4-5 amps and did well at vacuuming. Have the manufacturers not heard of energy conservation or being "green". Finally the entire housing is plastic as might be expected. It is not "cheap" but I doubt this one will be around 23 years.
